The last thing you need to consider changing
is the intercooler. All 9Ks have a large efficient intercooler.
They are sufficient for power up to the 300 Hp range.

First performance enhancement should be a sport exhaust system.
Many people advocate a 3" down-pipe, 3" free-flow converter, followed
by a 3 or 2.5" free flow exhaust.

Second should be a K&N air filter, either a drop-in or a cone filter
placed inside the fender well.

The next is an ECU upgrade. For the Trionic (T-5) ECUs the mod requires
download of new software into a ROM. Most places require sending out the
ECU to have it reprogrammed. I have a Trionic box with Abbott s/w in my
'95 thats good for about 35 HP. It makes a huge difference

I am not too familiar with the '91, but I think you can buy an upgraded
APC box from SPG9. Or, you can play around with your existing box, by
adjusting the potentiometers. There are some web sites detailing this.
Most people end up tweeking their box and the end up buying a box from SPG9.
Then you need a rising-rate fuel pressure regulator to supply more fuel.
And the next step is to upgrade the fuel injectors to also supply more fuel.
Then there are ignition boxes to modify timing maps.

Then there are the suspension mods, brake improvements etc, etc.

I think you should investigate what is available for your 9K before trying
to fit parts from different makes. There is a lot of experience on these
BB that will help you out. All you need is sufficient funds to buy the
parts. 250 Hp is relatively easy and relatively inexpensive ($1500 and up)

Have fun with your new toy.
