In the stock form it has less power to preserve the transmission.
Saab knows their auto-box is somewhat weak.
The engine is identical except for the turbo and the program in the
ECU.
Stock Auto Aeros are quick, at 200 HP and 220 ft-lbs of torque,
it has more power than most cars. (5-speeds have 225 and 245)
Since the suspension is the same, it will handle about the same as a 5-speed.
One thing that not many people realize is that a turbo and an automatic
are a marriage made in heaven. There is little or no turbo lag because
the torque converter allows the motor speed to jump right up. Punch
the throttle and you GO.
I have added a few mods to my auto-Aero; sport exhaust, K&N air filter and
an Abbott reprogrammed ECU. I estimate my Aero has 240-245 Hp.
Zeke, one of the guys that posts on this board, call my Aero "frightenly
quick" after experiencing a ride. (Zeke drives a 5-speed Aero).
