I use the factory recommended NKG plugs.
I sent my ECu to Abbott in the UK for upgrade. Total cost, including
shipping, was about $900 USD. If I were to do it again, I would investigate
tuners in Sweden, like BSR or Speedparts, cheaper than Abbott, some say
better software.
The car with the upgrade is MUCH more powerfull than stock. Power is up
by almost 20%, it transforms the car.
With the extra power, I am more careful not to induce full throttle up-shifts
between gears. I just ease off the throttle just before the shift.
Also, I avoid full throttle down-shifts by manually shifting prior to
opening the throttle wide open.
As for maintenance, I drain and refill the transmission (4qts) at each oil change.
I use synthetic oil in both the motor and transmission and do the change
every 5000 miles. I change the transmission filter every 15,000.
Is the extra power stressing the transmission? Probably.
Saab auto boxes have a reputation of breaking every 100,000 miles.
I don't know if this is factual or not.
Mine now has 80K on it and seems as good as new.
I can tell you, that it is a lot more fun than a stock Aero.
I plan to keep mine for a long time.
