And I fully agree, the hooter is much, MUCH easier on a 9k. But not much else is.
I too like the big intercooler. The fact is, I love driving both cars, which is why I have one of each. The 9k is a supreme cruiser, while the 900 is much more fun. But every job I've had to do on the 9k so far (hooter excepted) is much more difficult than the equivalent 900 job.
The only significant win the 9k has is that the tranny can be done with the engine in the car.
As a whole, I think the 900 is more solidly engineered. Take the widow winders. No silly steel wire in the 900, a nice scissor mechanism.
In many ways I'm disappointed that Saab sacrificed the 900s ease of maintenance for a more conventional transverse, McP strut setup.
