>>I have heard that it is a bad idea to switch to synthetic oil after running regular oil. I have also heard that it is not a problem at all. Where do these myths come from and are they only myths
They are only myths. I've been using and selling AMSOIL for over 24 years now, and almost every car it goes into has been using non-synthetic from 3,000 to over 200,000 miles.
When I bought my 88 9000T two years ago, the shop put AMSOIL in the engine before I even committed to buying it (had 87,000 on it then). Most of the Saabs that have come into the family (3 girls also had/have them) have started with 100,000 miles or so on them before purchase.
