You have to remove the plastic wheel well cover on the passenger side to see the reservoir. Pour washer fluid into it. From the way you described how fast it leaked, you definitely will see whether it is from a valve or from the body.
It is not difficult to remove it. The plastic reservoir has two steel rods attached to it in the bottom, the end of which are bolted to the frame. It is also attached to the car body at the reservoir neck area, all three attachments are accessible with the hood open from the engine side.
Mine happens to leak at the rear steel rod attachment to the reservoir body. I patched it up with thick paste of two-part epoxy.
