91 9Kt: Dead Alarm

Greetings,
My new (to me) 91 has a dead alarm. I thought it might've been corroded door switches (the interior lights didn't reliably go on when back doors were opened) so I've removed and polished all the door, and hood switches. I now have reliable lighting feedback from all BUT the hood light, I am still working to see what's wrong there.
All attempts to follow Townsend's instructions have yielded NOTHING from the LED or the siren/horn. I have followed the various methods to get into Transport mode and none of them do anything. I even pulled the battery terminals (they needed cleaning/lubing anyway) in addition to repeatedly yanking F-19.
Where next, wise ones? Open up the door to check the key-switch? Yank the glove box to wiggle, polish or re-set the ECU's terminals? (If that, then I'm going to get some Cramolin) And what exactly can this alarm do? Does it interrupt the engine's operation, so that a dead horn and LED could still be proven by having the engine be dead on attempting to start?
