I was sure that there was something amiss with the one on my 9kT, until I found out (after polishing every contact I could think of) that it only works when the lightswitch is in parking lights mode. Try that before tearing any more hair -- it worked for me!
And I'll ditto the message above -- no flashing light does NOT absolutely indicate that the alarm isn't arming.
