I'm not sure, but it sounds like you are describing the oval wear that occurs in the yoke and the pedal arm where the clevis pin goes through. If the hole in the pedal arm is worn oval, fix it and lube it with moly when you reassemble it. I've often wondered why SAAB used a pin that is harder than the two pieces that it is joining. The pin is cheap and a lot more expendable.
I've seen an old style slave cylinder that wore to the point that the piston hung up part way down the bore and wouldn't release the clutch. I could see this happening to a master, too.
