Greetings
I had a similar problem. First buy a cheap vacuum gauge and check the
vacuum. It should read steady 18 mmHg. If its not steady or substantually
less you have a vacuum leak. My problem was that my PVC system was not
configured. Look at the manual and make sure you are running either open
or closed PVC system. I was running something in between. After I ran the
hoses correctly....bingo...much better but not perfect.
Then I noticed that the casting was badly made and had a crack near my anti-diesel solenoid. The solenoid was not sealing well. Just this weekend
I got around to RTVing it in and bingo....perfect. Good response. Great
pickup....
Also changed the accelerator pump gasket.
Be careful when adjusting the idle screw all the way down. It is tapered and I screwed it down too hard and got the seat wedged into it. When I pulled the screw out I noticed it looked strange. I ordered a new needle
and pressed the seat back in.
Also check your float setting and fuel pressure. Weber 34ichs do not like
fuel pressures higher than 4 psi.
Good luck
Ernesto
