That integrated unit sounds like the way to go... Actually the car I want to put this on is a fairly big project (it might have been easier just buying a 900 Aero but I can't bring myself to spend about $7,000 then take a cutter to one!) - it's a 99 Combi in my favourite Saab Colour [apart from silver & black] Topaz Yellow, which is destined to get smoothed, stretched slightly, dropped, shaved, hide-away lights etc., as well as a 16v 900 turbo motor, g'box, p/steering and suspension. The dash will be all custom stuff, which will likely be easier than fitting a 900 one!
So hopefully fitting aircon to it won't be as difficult as it could on a 'normal' 99, hey?! [QLD vernacular]
I must have too much time, hey?! :)
Vent controls: if the plastic tabs that the metal grippers that hold the ends of the cable are broken, you really need the get another base piece. I suppose you could tap tiny holes and fit small brackets?
It IS possible to replace single rotary controls - there's a circlip at the back - but it's VERY fiddly and frustrating. Glueing them will never work, trust me.
