Dealership has been telling me I need a new clutch for close to a year. I haven't noticed any kind of slippage... they said "haven't you noticed, the clutch is very hard to depress?" but the clutch was always very stiff. I have noticed lately it's a little harder to slip into gear, somewhat greater tendency to grind if I'm not quite in sync.
But I've only got 67,000 miles on this car, and in the past I've taken cars close to and over 100,000 miles before needing a new clutch, so I don't think I'm hard on a clutch...frankly, it's a bad time to shell out almost 2 grand, I'd like to put it off for a few months.
When is it REALLY time? Can I drive safely from NJ to Maine next week or is my car going to die on the highway?
