Kessler Park is an old established Dallas neighborhood. I am within 2 miles of the Dallas central business district. I have lived up and down the east coast where I originated.

What I have found is that (in Dallas) people who don't have the obsession with anything that is new, who like trees, and prefer their terrain to be other than flat, do not live in the Northern 'burbs. I have always been astonished by the Dallas' foundness of the Chevrolet Suburban. Why people would spend that much money on a Chevy truck eludes me. Especially since there are no working farms to speak of in Dallas county.

Let's face it, the things that attract us to SAABs relate more to their differences. As far as Lexus, Acura and the like, the people who purchase them feel they have made a good deal. What has been expressed to me is that the buyer perceives that he has purchased the equivalent of a Benz for a lesser sum. After he owns the car, it is unlikely that you would be able to change his mind. So how does this relate to Plano?

Remember we are speaking of the part of town where the tract mansion is king. It's the same community where upper middle class high school kids die of heroin overdoses in absurdly large numbers. The paradox is that if you ask someone from Plano if the schools are good or if it is a safe area they will say yes. If you ask them about my part of town they'll tell you it isn't safe. Personally I feel safer here than I did in Preston Hollow or on Turtle Creek, both of which are supposed to be nice areas.

So for me it is not hard to see why where you live and I work there are not so many SAABs. However, the sig other came home tonight and mentioned having seen 5 9-3 convertibles on the way home. There are lots of 9-3's in my neighborhood, a few 9Ks and a 9-5 wagon or two. To put it in perspective, I am 20 miles from the Nortel complex. It's a different city down here.

As far as car culture goes, I find it interesting that you live in an area with so few SAABs.

Enjoying the banter....
