9-3SE Drive-train Vibration @ 1800 RPM Posted by Paul [Email] (#792) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Paul) on Tue, 26 Dec 2000 11:02:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a new 2001 9-3SE that, 95% of the time, seems much smoother and quieter than the 2000 9-3 base car I had been driving (both 5 speeds). But the SE does something that I never noticed in the base car. If the RPMs have drifted down to around 1800 while I'm in 4th or 5th gear (after slowing for traffic for example), the drive train seems to vibrate and labor as I accelerate, even if I'm just giving it a little gas to speed up slightly. I can downshift to get the RPMs over 2000 and the effect goes away, but I'm wondering if I have a potenttial problem, and what differences between the 2000 base car and the 2001 SE might explain this.
