I rented a Maxima this week while on business and I was very curious to see how it would compare with my 9.3. Most of us want to believe that the 9.3 is similar to the 3 series, S60, A4, and Passat but with SAAB discounts I believe the Maxima is also the competition. Anyway, I founmd the Maxima to be more solid and quiet than my car and a little roomier up front but that's all I can say on a positive note. THe car has series oversteer, decent acceleration but not overwhelming, and I found it to be fairly boring. I guess the 9.3 is "old" and outdated but I find my car much more exciting to drive. I was surprised since this was a 2001 Maxima which was just updated in 2000. I think thge engineering of Japanese cars can sometimes be overrated. Granted, I got the base version but I felt like I was in a Camry. I was so glad to return after 4 days in the Maxima and take my car out for a spin. Joshua Harrison
