Michelin Arctic Alpine tread direction...mis-mounted??

I was just out checking the tire pressure and noticed the arrows on the sides of the tires. Upon closer inspection, 3 of the 4 were pointing the wrong direction. If each wheel was rotated so that the arrow was on top, they should point towards the front of the car if indicating the proper direction of travel for moving forward, correct? Instead, both fronts and the right rear would point backwards. Now, my inital thought (hope) was that the dealer rotated the tires crossways at the last oil change (last week). However, I can't figure out how you could re-rotate the tires in order to make it right. Am I correct there?
If it was not rotation, it must have been the original installation that was incorrect. This means that I've been driving around for over 6000 miles on incorrectly mounted tires, a lot of that dry highway. Has this caused permanent damage to the tires? Should I try to get the installer to give me new ones? Not even sure where to start here.
