Need help w/ model issue vs. performance issue!!!

Last fall purchased a base 2000 9-3. Drives OK, but lots of finish problems and the beginnings of rattles etc. Have learned lots from this web site about pricing, but I got a decent deal despite being told it was a "great deal". Car is in the shop for a list of service issues where ty dropped the ball. I'm driving a 2001 9-3 SE loaner and what a difference!!! Most noticeable is the smooth shifting (in acceleration) one gear to the next (both are automatics) and how solid the car feels in the front. No squeaks and the pickup difference seems more significant than the 20hp as billed. My problem is that I don't know how to convey this to the service department who seems to downplay quality issues. My car has 8K mi on it and this one only 515 mi. Interestingly enough, I called my salesman two weeks ago and asked him to get me pricing on a new SE. I've yet to even get a return call back from him. Having only one dealership in town sucks cause they have you where they want you and they're really unhappy I've found this web site. Were I to purchase a new SE would the differences I'm experiencing now go away with mileage or can I get my 2000 to feel tighter and smoother in accelerating than it is now. How do I articulate it without getting one of those "woman owner" looks???
