I was prepared for the boost taper situation, having read your previous posts on the subject. However, what really threw me off was that there seems to only be taper in first gear, which never really reaches the boost level it does in 2nd. There is no taper in the upper gears, actually a rise in fact that has caused fuel cut a few times on upslopes.
After re-reading the end of AutoSpeed's article that prompted me to build my controller, I noticed that they predicted this: "Depending on the chosen pressure regulator, boost level may rise slightly if turbo is highly loaded in upper gears." I'm sure the turbo pressure tap is a main factor as well. I will look at other locations if I decide to use the controller regularly.
It also ocurred to me that the same reverse one way bypass valve used in the AutoSpeed project might be useful with ball and spring units as well. I would think that the Hallman/TurboXS/Dawes also traps pressure between the MBC and the wastegate, which would cause lag between shifts. Haven't heard of anyone trying that, however.
