I won't make any friends here, but my choice would be the 325i. Here's why:
Overall ride and soundness of body structure (my 2000 Saab 9-3SE doesn't compare). Let's face it, the 9-3 is dated and the ride is harsh. The BMW does a good job at providing fun while taking the bumps with refinement.
Rear wheel drive on 325i - snow is a rarity where I live. I prefer handling of rear wheel drive.
Engine - I like the normally aspirated 6 cyl. over the 4 cyl turbo. (My preference). The sound of the BMW inline 6 is more pleasing to me.
Ergonomics - placement of window switches, cupholders, etc. better in 325i
Depreciation - BMW is one of the best for holding value.
