Hey, guys:
We really have a lot of snow in Boston. And about a month or so ago, my brakes sounded as though i had some snow stuck under the calipers, both when i braked firmly or gently. Figured it would go away after braking hard and driving for awhile. The snow melted and the sound stayed. Have 9500 miles on this 9-3. Then I noticed (and by noticed I mean, "was terrified by") an alarming lack of brake pressure if i had to use them hard at highway speeds. Brought the car to the dealer. They returned it to me saying that I needed to try to ride my brakes (!) to clean them during the winter; apparently corrosion builds up almost immediately, and if hit hard, a film forms on the rotor which causes the lack of pressure. I said OK and left. Now, when I first start driving- and it's not like i'm parking in snow drifts - I try to get up to 40 and then hit the brakes hard. That seems to take care of some of the problem, but not all the time. This seems strange for a new "luxury" car. Anyone else deal with this? Car is a 5-speed, so I do use brakes less.
