Yet SAAB, and their dealers the WORLD OVER continue to pour millions and millions of litres of these non- A3/B3 oils into SAAB consumer cars every month and back it up with a solid 4 yr.x 50,000 warranty.

Somebody will no doubt write that SAAB is (allegedly) cutting costs by doing this. Really ?

Do you not think that all these viscosities of Mobil 1 FULL SYN oils cost within a penny (or two) per 4 litre jug--when the GM worldwide purchasing department orders 2-3 million litres for distribution ?

Taking nothing away from your hours and hours of research--the "real world" of SAAB is a polar opposite to what you describe. And SAAB puts their money where their mouth is.

SAAB obviously either knows and/or believes that full synthetic A1/B1, A5/B5 oils like the Mobil 1 0W-30 and 5W-30 and 10W-30 WORK VERY WELL, or the financial consequences would be catastrophic to a small car company like SAAB.

Not like recent posts of SAAB's competitor BMW, who indeed had oil related issues in their engines. Try to easily find 10W-60 as a new BMW owner on your trip through Tennessee to Florida for example ! Good luck there !!

I don't see the posts on ALL these BB ( NG 900, 9-3 BB and 9-5 BB) of "blown engines" due to Mobil 1 10W-30 usage. Where are all of them if the Mobil 1 10W-30 oil is non-compliant to the A3/B3 spec ?

And to Jae --5W-30 and 10W-30 Mobil 1 are consistently available at Wal-Mart @ $ 18.00 US for a 5 quart jug as a ggreat value. FYI.

Show me a list of SAAB dealers that CURRENTLY supply full syn A3/B3 oil as a part of the SAAB included maintenance-- at no charge to their customers. Got to be one of the world's shortest lists.

So don't lose sleep over the A3/B3 "label".

I offer my own experience to this BB that I have been using Mobil 1 since the 1980's and NEVER had an engine problem. Certainly, the oil-change frequency assisited me, as I changed @ approx 4,000/5,000 miles back then.

Todays Mobil 1 full synthetic oils--as I'm sure your resarch has shown-- are 10x better that what I used in the 80's. And in keeping with the good ol' Yankee custom to change your oil every 5,000 miles---you'll (IMHO )never experience any engine problems.

I drove a 1983 SAAB to 300,000 miles on DINO OIL!! The metallurgy is just way better in SAAB than other cars. And, at over 300,000 miles, the car did not "use" 1/2 quart of oil !! Now, does anybody want to debate with me the quality of the 1983 10W-30 oils as compared to today's Mobil 1 10W-30 ?

So, in conclusion, use what the you want to use in Mobil 1 just like your local dealer does EVERY DAY, and/or the A3/B3 Mobil 1 0W-40 if you wanna pay extra for it. Just don't feel you "have-to".
