Our '00 9-3 has had an intermitent engine miss, which occurs at steady cruising speeds, most noticeable above 60 mph or so. The car just momentarily stumbles. Sometimes this occurs once or twice during a 30-minute drive, sometimes it does it every few minutes for many miles. Car has 75K and has always had maintenance done by the book. Recently replaced the DI cassette and installed yet another new set of plugs (correct number, correct gap), had the fuel delivery system and throttle body cleaned, and replaced the fuel filter. The car has been to the dealer twice, for three days each time, and they claim they can't get it to do anything. The car has never stored any codes.
I contacted Saabs Customer Assistance Center, and they had their technical support department contact the dealer. That's great, but their "solution" was to ask me to bring the car back in when it's exhibiting the symptons!
I can't believe that no one in the Saab service heirarchy can diagnose a problem like this. It's like the problem has to be smacking them in the face before they can recognize it.
I suppose our only option at this point is to drive the car until it fails. and then have it towed in. Hopefully that won't happen in a way that puts anyone in danger.
I've posted this problem before and had some suggestions from Dean, which I passed on to the dealer. Anyone else have any ideas? Thanks.
