11 Saabs in the family, 23 years of Saab ownership, 1 very independet lawyer wife of 10 years (with 2 consecutive Saabs) and a decade or more of TSN postings and this is the first time that I have been taken to task over a post. A post that was supposed to be whimsical not mean. I hadn't read the back of the manual either until your post so I learned something too.
Him/her it's all generic here unless you use your name, and these days even that's not a gimme. So sorry if I assumed LKD is a male. Males are the one's who usualyy don't stop for directions, read manuals etc. There...I've insulted the 90% of the people here who are mail. At least I'm an equal opportunity scum bag.
If I can get back to the subject of your post.
15" rims clear the brakes on all Linears, regardless of sport suspension.
A 195/65 tire sitting on a 15" rim might help clear deep snow, especially if you have the sport suspension.
A 205/55 tire on a 16" rim would be better if you don't have a lot of snow, ther roads are well plowed and/or you spend much of your winter on bare pavement or icy roads.
In the winter, the higher the tire profile the better protected the rim is for sure, particularly from potholes.
I've chosen 16" rims (just won the e-bay auction on 16" ASA rims) and 205/55 Green Diamond tires for my 2003 Linear with Sport Launch and Touring packages.
My wife uses 15" Ronal 5 spokes with 195/65 Hakkas on her 1997 900S. She has less hp to put down and she goes offroad a lot more to get to her horse, boarded about 15 km from where we live.
Hope that helps and again, my apologies.
