It is on the high side IF? Using Saab OEM parts Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Tue, 14 Feb 2006 09:44:58 In Reply to: Does this sound right for pricing for a new exhaust?, Cindy, Mon, 13 Feb 2006 20:53:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
But it is also extremely important to verify if they are also planning to replace the header pipe/catalytic converter in that price.
If, when they are talking about the "whole" exhaust system and they mean after catalytic converter and back. The full retail price of all the pipes and mufflers plus hangers and clamps comes up to about $800.00 and then it is about 1/2 hour to an hour to replace (less than $100.00).
But if they also talk about the header pipe/catalytic converter, you have to add $585.00 to the parts list.
That's how difficult it can be to compare pricing (apple and apple comparison syndrome).
I am not a big fan of the muffler shops since they usually use coffe can material in their mufflers and weld things together in a misfit configuration but if they are actually using Saab oem exhaust pipes and muffler its ok.
The labor they charge though is still high.
