John, yes the Direct Injection Cassettes (DICs) tend to fail; and they fail without much warning. I bought 2 used DICs for less than $100 each. They are easy to change. Just use the Torx screw driver in the tool kit in the trunk and slide the electrical connector to the unlock position. You can change one in about 5 minutes, if the engine is not too hot. Remember to use some blue Loctite on the 4 Torx bolts as they have a tendency to loosten over time. All in all, a used Saab is a great value if you can do most of the work yourself.
