I have been having a problem which appears somewhat common on a 2.3L. It takes much cranking to get it to start and the problem worsens as the outside temperature drops. In fact, it will NOT start once the temperature goes below 25 degrees. I have read many many posts of suggestions but none seemed to have a definitive resolution. So far I have done the following:
Replaced spark plugs with NGK, new wires, new distributor cap, rotor, fuel filter, fuel regulator and replaced the Air Mass Meter. I have cleaned and lubed the AIC, cleaned the throttle body, cleaned the temp sensor. All of this has had almost no affect on the cold start. Once started it runs fine and recently passed Connecticut emissions. I also wired in a switch so I could run the fuel pump for awhile before trying to start (in case the check valve had failed) but that did nothing to help the problem.
I have run out of ideas and patience. After a no start on Monday morning I removed the plates and parked it. I have thrown in the towel.
