It is a real Viggen! I hope for it to be mine soon Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Tue, 13 Aug 2013 16:09:30 In Reply to: What positively identifies a Viggen?, MI-Roger [Profile/Gallery] , Sun, 11 Aug 2013 16:05:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Real deal, at least everything that is easily viewable says Viggen - except the wheels. The VIN, the front bumper, the rear spoiler, the door sills, the seat embroidery, the original window sticker.
Body is in fantastic shape, convertible top is immaculate and operates freely, and car runs great.
The only disappointment is in the condition of the driver's seat. I would have made an offer on the spot except the seat cushion needs to be replaced or to have the bolster taken apart and a couple new pieces of leather stitched in.
I want to have an idea of used seat availability and cost to assist with my making my offer.
Current owner has had the car one year and is selling because he also has a Saleen Mustang and a 100 mile daily round trip commute to work. Driving either car means he is destroying resale value on the one accumulating the miles. He bought the car from his boss who owned it for 10 years and the boss basically talked the current owner into buying it, although I don't think it was much of an argument as the current owner had always admired it. Previous to that it was an exhibit car for American Sunroof Company who designed, built, and sold the convertible top structures to Saab. Owners #2 and #3 are both ASC employees and the car has seen great care.
I have a fraternity brother who was President of ASC in the mid 1990s, so my planned ownership won't be too far removed from ASC either.
