I wish that I had the answers. The engine does not need to be lowerer, but perhaps it sags with the one mount removed. I don't know if it needs support while doing this. The three fasteners at the top of the down pipe are removed, and the exhaust is lowered a bit. It will need support to hot damage the flex section, and the O2 sensor lead will need some slack in it.
Trany weight. I was wondering about that. I used to do Volvo transmissions while on my back. I would not attempt that today with my current body. My bod is very our of warranty, and I don't want to screw it up!
Count on using a lift or jack for the trany.
Have a look and see if you can plan it out. It is a mystery to me. Perhaps they unbolt the cluch pressure plate with the trany part way out. I will read your posts with great interest.
