You don't have to convert the car at all, and service centers are fairly abundant. Service cost are sightly higher than stateside, but you can offset the cost by doing some things loke changing your own oil at the autohobby shop. Re-sale like Eric said is not to bad. Trying to find a second gen M3 at a decent price will be. Plus trying to keep that BMW on the road with black ice and snow makes for a little more interesting drive in the winter, unlike the Saab.
The autobahn is a blast but you will not be able to hit the top end of 145mph on the Saab very often, the speed limits and traffic prevent it. Just a little info.
