my 94 900S has the same problem. Around 140K the foam stopped deteriating and then the seat started to tear in that area. Since that initial tear (approx. 1") it stopped. 1 1/2 years later I am at 185K and the seat has had no more problems.
Saab does not sell seat material. Does anyone know where you can pick this stuff up? My plan is to take re-pack with foam and patch the seat.
