Use synthetic oil, Mobil One.
Use a heavier oil, a ?W40. Your engine will run spoother and quieter. Try that and see. This will provide better lubrication for difficult/marginal areas like rings, cam lobes and chains...
With the 2.3L engine failures, you need the best lubrication that you can get.
Balancing shaft chains and sprockets have been wearing, pluging oil intake screens with debrise. Some evidence of the oil sludging to the point of not pumping in some cases. Dyno oil with high concentrations of wear metals can oxidize and form sludge. But that is the end state. The wear suggests a lubrication failure. There was some conjecture about poor heat treat or metal specs for the sprockets, but there was never a posting of a proper failure analysis. We don't understand why the 2.0 turbo engines are not showing these failure tendancies. We see abound 6 of these a year, so don't panic, just make sure that your engine lubrication is well maintained.
Suggest the Purolator PureOne PL10241 filter as a better unit, resonable price.
Keep your injectors clean. An errant spray pattern that hits a cylidner wall can cause rapid ring and cylinder wear. Techron Concentrate suggested.
