(My previous response never posted, if it does eventually sorry for the repost) Tahnks for responding to my "AC sh_t the bed" post yesterday. Went home yesterday, pushed on the AC and it "groaned" on as it usually does. You may be a bit right as it seems to blow cold air for maybe 2-3 seconds and then hot and steamy after that. BTW, I have all manual controls. I checked the two related AC fuses in the side panel and one under the hood, but all OK. Maybe the AC relay? Although I don't think it is related, I posted last week or so a problem with my coolant going low every so often without any noticeable leaks, however, the car has never run hot. Now, the car never runs ice cold and I had the shop check or change the fluid a year or so ago so it would.
On another front, when I looked under the hood last night, for what I don't know as I basically know how to change oil and basic filters only, I notice an oil build up in the back and middle way down low, primarily on the engine that juts out close to the firewall. It is not fresh as it is dust covered. I then notice a fresher one on the front and lower side of the engine below the distributor cap. After looking at it again now, it does seem that there is oil around the base of the cap and bottom "stem" of where the cap attaches to the engine with some minor drips on the hose below, but the oil on the front engine as just described could no way drip from the distributor cap as it is not directly below and there is no oil running down from it. I usually "dust" around the engine compartment every few months and did not notice it in early summer. Could have been there, however. Also, I have never dripped a spot of oil in the driveway so thinking it is "wicking" from somewhere. I have this sinking feeling that it might be a gasket leak(?). For the record, I have a '97 900S with 80K and have dyno that is changed every 4-5K. I'm going on a 1,500 mile trip to Nova Scotia Saturday and wondered if I should race it into the shop for a quick look-see to see if it is a major concern.
