Hi Everyone, my brother was recently driving my Saab, a '94 900SE 6-cyl, when this happened. Can anyone pick through this and find what might be wrong?
These are his words...
"So, here's what happened. Up until the saab's demise it was running great. It idled perfect, had good acceleration, and power. About a block and a half after i left ford's it sounds like it blew the top right off the engine, and killed immediately. Every warning light on dash came on. I had enough steam built up to cruise around the corner and pop the hood to take a looksy at it. The only thing i could tell that was bad without any tools to dig deeper into it was the accessory belt was worn on the back side. I was able to get it to start once more for a few seconds, and the engine sounded like it had one foot in the grave and the other one on a banana peel. The RPM's wouldn't go above 3000, and there was a lot of top end engine noise of the rattle and knock variety. It kind of reminded me of the old pushrod engines when they got valve train noise. Except this noise is on steroids of the arnold schwazenegger flavor. It was almost loud enough to hurt your ear if you put it right up to the top of the engine."
Thanks,
Chris
