Can't cover every contingency... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Fri, 14 Oct 2005 19:24:34 In Reply to: Here you go, steve, Fri, 14 Oct 2005 18:39:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Can't cover every contingency, like making a sport sedan/wagon work well at full GVWR too. It would seem more suited to a standard ride height and not so low a profile tires for best performance at maximum load. I don't have a problem at all with Aero tires lasting 37k, that's very long life for an Aero sized tire. Improving the alignment doesn't seem like it would add to tire life if you're already getting up to 40k out of OEM Aero tires. Many folks are lucky to get 20-25k. Nothing premature about an Aero tire wearing out beyond 30k.
Is it possible you car was overloaded? It's pretty easy to exceed the GVWR without realizing it. Or is is possible that there was a large bump or dip that caused excessive bottoming? Of course everyone insists not, "Not while I've owned the car", "never happened" when in fact a guest driver or some other mystery person caused a problem.
High performance sport sedans and wagons are kinda' at cross purposes with regards to heavy loads. I'd hate to have to haul around all that heavy duty stuff to suit you when my Aero SportWagon with 70k is doing fine as equipped. I like my fat tires and lowered ride height and I'm willing to sacrifice some ultimate load capacity for the style and function.
It's also very easy for an intelligent, articulate person like you to far exceed the communication and product expertise of a car dealer.
