My daughter is always quick to holler at me if I go 5 mph over, don't fully stop at a stop sign on a deserted street, forget to signal a lane change, etc. I happened to follow her once when she was driving (she didnt' know it was me) and she did everything right. I don't worry about her, too much, even though a friend of mine said, "You bought her a turbo Saab?! Are you nuts?! It'll go a 130 mph!" It might, she won't. And that's good.
OTOH, my other daughter (only 12) would rather drive with me than my very law-biding wife because I go faster (OK, 5-8 over). But it's also that she likes that the 9K accelerates better than the Exploder. Her, I will worry about.
But kids in general probably do drive like their parents. And since very few parents seem to take driving seriously their kids don't either.
On top of that, driver's ed continues to be a joke. They don't learn about skids, using ABS or anything really important. Kids still basically learn to drive to the mall and parallel park.
