We have sort of a weird situation. Right now our garage/driveway has:
1. My 9-5
2. My mom's '05 T&C
3. My dad's 1996 Dodge Caravan
Yes, we embarrassingly have two minivans. We were only going to have them both for a year or two but my mom's previous minivan was totaled in a head-on with an old Toyota pickup truck that lost control on an icy morning. So that sort of ruined that plan... My dad rides his bike to work and the '96 just sits in the garage with the exception of being driven to the dump every couple weeks. I think the last time we filled the gas tank was in March or April. This one definitely qualifies for CARS, but we'd have to order a Jetta TDI to get the full $4500, and even then it would need to be a BASE model, no-frills Jetta to stick to the budget of around $15k. The gas Jetta only qualifies for $3500. We agreed it would be better to get a used car with some more options in it and sell the old van ourselves.
