I have installed 5 recessed light fixtures in a new dining room, new wire run all the way to the panel.
Tested it today and the breaker tripped immediately.
Tried it again while I listened in the room, no obvious sounds when the breaker tripped (open studs).
I started disconnecting fixtures closest to the panel and testing the breaker,
I was able to get each fixture to work as I disconnected the downstream fixture, disconnecting the last fixture aloowed the circuit to not trip. I tested continunity in the fixture, and it seems to be ok, I get a reading from the ground wire to the frame, from the white wire to the socket threads, and from the black wire to the center of the socket.
I have 120 volts at the end of the run, with the last fixture disconnected, if I reconnect it, the breaker pops immediatly.
Is the fixture be NG, or do I have a problem in the wiring?
