that's pretty oldfangled... I bet you drive an old saab for which you paid cash (like me)... ha!
I agree, it is wise to be debt free. I never carry credit card debt - if I did, I would pay interest, and that would be crazy... however, sometimes one does need to borrow for things like a house, so having a good credit rating is beneficial. Even if one had the asset base to cover large expenditures, having the immediate liquidity of a card is handy.
I have probably not used a teller in several years now. The main reason is banks charge higher service charges for that (or you pay for a fancier plan or whatnot)... I'm too cheap for that! Plus bank hours are not as convenient as ATM hours... but if you can do that, all the power to you!
