Go to VW.com. Option out a Passat GLX. Note the options page:

"4MOTION permanent all-wheel drive system, including torque sensing center differential; must be accompanied by the 5-speed automatic transmission."

The Passat is based on the same platform as the A4. As such, it uses a longitudinally mounted engine (that's the reason why the Passat lost the VR6 several years ago in favor of Audi's V6 with a VW logo on it). All longitudinally mounted VW's share Quattro (called 4Motion in the VWs) with Audi. One would only expect the W8 to also be Quattro-based.
