cars. I, like you, got the feeling I should get rid of my C900. I did last year and it was the worst mistake of my car owning career. I still own my '97, and I love it, but I sorely miss my '88 900S.
Mike, keep your baby. You seem young, I'm guessing in your twenties.(?) As you get more established, either move up to a turbo, or keep the S **and** buy a turbo. The C900 is just that: a classic, and the overall performance, utility, and safety is very hard to beat.
Don't get dejected, my friend. Seems to me you need a local Saab Support group. Any local Saab clubs in Chicagoland? If so, join it! If not, you've got us on the Saabnet.
