There should be different speed limits for different classes of vehicles, above and beyond the 65/55 you see on some highways (55 for trucks over 5 tons.) Pickup trucks or SUVs should be limited to 65, including vans and minivans. Compact cars should be limited to 70, and "performance" cars should be limited to something reasonable (90 would be fine for me.) This allows those vehicles that would be more unsafe travelling at higher speeds to be restricted. I hate seeing the Ford Exorbitant with a soccer mom and 24 kids going 100 in the left lane. Not to mention I have seen minivans with a soccer mom COMPLETELY TURNED AROUND IN HER SEAT actually reading a book to a kid in the back seat. WHILE DRIVING.
These are the people that cause accidents. Its not the people in BMWs (or Saabs) that go over the speed limit. Its the ones that dont know how to drive. The ones that are distracted. Have you ever seen the commercial on US TV with the kids in the car, and they're eating and the driver is a kid who is not watching the road and almost gets into an accident because he's talking to his friends? Its not just kids that do that. I'm not suggesting a "Don't Eat and Drive" campaign but if you're going to get on the highway, please pay attention.
Oh well, rambled on a bit, but that's what I think.
