Hello everyone!

SHORT QUESTION: I NEED ADVICE ON HOW TO SET BASE IGNITION TIMING ON A 2.3

Timing at idle, timing throughout the rpm range, max retard under boost, etc..

Backgound info: My friend purchased an SDS standalone ignition and injection system to install in his 1992 9000 turbo with some basic modifications to it.

It's installed and the car currently runs.

We have complete control over the fuel mixture at all rpms in 250 rpm increments, and also complete control over the coilpack ignition timing that the SDS system uses.

It has a 3 bar MAP sensor and no longer uses the MAF sensor, and the MAP sensor is programable as well, allowing us to retard or advance the timing based on manifold pressure however we want to.

Right now I'm looking for someone to give me an idea of what to set our BASE IGNITION TIMING TO, then we'll work on adjusting his boost retard with the map sensor.

Here is the setup.

SDS EM-4 Ignition and Injector control, crank triggered from custom harmonic balancer hall effect sensor setup.

B234 engine, completely stock internals. High mileage but well taken care of.

t3 manifold swap to use a swedish dynamics red series turbo (suspected t3/t4 hybrid, with a 57 trim compressor and a stock turbine wheel, clipped 7 degrees. Turbine housing AR is .48)

Large High flow intercooler made by Jak Stoll

3" Jak stoll downpipe and center pipe running into 2.5" under the rear seats to the muffler

34# Saab t5 Red Top Injectors (plan to upgrade to 550cc injectors)

Walbro 255LPH fuel pump installed in tank already.

Complete gutting of the TCS system:

Group9 Big bore throttle body installed, stock pedal and throttle cable

All Stock computers disconnected except ABS...

All unneeded stock wired gutted, cut, and sealed off.

thanks
