18" rims are going to set you up for very litle tire sidewall. That might give you nice handling, but you'll get more vibration and a rougher ride, as well as have a more limited tire selection. If you live in pothole country you'll likely get some bends sooner or later.

You'll also have heavier wheels that reduce acceleration and handling (more rotating weight further from the hub axis; more unsprung weight).

I know "bigger is better" seems to be the trend in wheels these days, but it's form over function.
