Actually lighter pistons are a good thing (besides less reciprocating weight) for the crankshaft simply because your 2.3 counter weights are too light which is the reason for the lame balance shafts! Also when a crank is properly lightened ( http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/members/gallery.html?memberID=425&do=show&id=16515 )
the weight is taken out within the journal which effectively makes the counterweight heavier! It's a V engine that you can't change piston weights in without re-balancing and not an inline, opposed or even a 180 degree journal V-8 like Ferrari uses as the mass on each journal is counteracted by the opposite ones.
