Engine Update: Nightmare Posted by Shaun [Email] (#683) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Shaun) on Mon, 11 Dec 2000 19:31:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
A year ago I pulled my engine and sent it to PAECO for a hi po rebuild. Got the engine back in late August, ran into a few problems here and there, including cams being put in reversed but finally started the engine last week.
Leaking coolant by way of copper head gasket. Retorqued head bolts and that seemed to help.
Next, leaking OIL out of exhaust ports....it was weeping by the gaskets. Nice. Talked to PAECO and they said "Bring us the engine, but because of our 'limited warranty', you bear the cost of yanking the motor." Real nice.
Looked up in the throttle body into the intake manifold and there was a small lake of oil. I checked the turbo....new custom unit from the shop that was formerly Bill Myers Turbos in Birmingham....and there was no leakage from the compressor or bypass valve.. No trace of oil in the I/C or tubing to the TB.
All I can think of is that the valve guides, the rings, or both, are dicked up. Extra nice.
So now I have to pull the engine again and haul it to PAECO. Do yourselves a favor, see a psychiatrist if you even think of using PAECO. Let them fool with the English stuff. An extremely hard lesson to learn, not even taking into account the money I forked out. I'll leave it at that lest I get banned from this site for using excessive vulgarity, which at the moment would come quite easily.
