At one point, I distinctly recall seeing the Jacobs systems advertised in the catalog from Accelerated Response Motoring, however, not sure if that is still the case.
The primary components in the Jacobs system are the special variable magnitic coil (think that's what they call it) which gives you supposedly much more voltage and current output than the OE Saab coil, and their 'computer'. On higher end models, this is an a completely separate enclosure, while on my Omni Magnum system, it's in the same enclosure as the coil (works out to a 5" cube or so). What the computer does is (don't ask me how) determine just how much spark energy is needed for each plug, and then sends that much to it. Supposedly can do this several times per engine revolution. Please see Jacobs' web site, as I am not doubt not doing their system justic by my simple explanation. When I read about their system, it seemed to me not at all unlike what Saab does with the Trionic and DI igntions...
In my car, it fit between the washer fluid reservoir and the headlight, but I hear for '88+ 9000s, there is a fusebox/relay block there. Do a search, somebody mentioned there were able to relocate the fuse box to fit the same Omni Magnum I am using, in their '88.
