I have taken my n/a NG900 to BMWCCA events and have not no problems. They all understand why your there. Actually, I have even gotten some compliments about my style from other students and drivers. The front driver takes a different style of driving (generally more aggressive) to get 10/10ths out of the car, but your ability is probably under that. So try to drive "BETTER," the speed will come with confidence. I can remember my first session, I thought the car was going to flip over onto its side as I entered turn 1 off the straight. After the second session, my instructor said that I averaged about 20 mph faster through the course (going for a ride in his car really helped me figure out what I was trying to do). Just work on being smooth and finding the line, even though you will miss it most of the time.
If you are in the novice group, everyone is pretty much in the same boat; no matter how hot your ride is. I had the lowest horsepower car in my group and I could hang with 99% of the other students in my group. That is until we got onto the straightaway, then I just waved bye-bye to them. BTW, I had all-season h-rated tires on the car.
