The 170hp Focus we're getting isn't turbocharged... it's NA, and should be dubbed the Focus SVT. And, it will probably have 180hp. Europe will see a 220-ish hp 2.0 Turbo, currently called the Focus R. Additionally, there is talk of bringing the '02 Focus Cosworth to the states - 300-ish hp AWD. We'll see.
Also, let's remember that there are a number of cars that make 300 hp from four cylinder engines... The Lancer Evo and Subaru WRX STi (not to mention the 22B) both come to mind. I know Nissan makes a high-hp Silvia (240SX, but a 2.0lT), and of course there was the MR2 Turbo in Japan until very recently. And let's not overlooked all those wonderful 300+hp Eclipse GSXs running around. Most of these cars have ~7000rpm redlines, and are tuned for high hp whereas Saabs suffer with a 6000rpm redline and are tuned for mid-range torque. It's a design choice, I suppose...
