Here in the US, you basically have to keep the cat due to yearly emissions testing. I know some EEC countries like Germany have emissions regulations and catalysts. France did not appear to care about emissions last time I was there in '95.
Are cars like the Viggen available sans catalyst? Do they still require unleaded fuels? I would think the O2 snesor to be a critical part of engine management systems these days and the sensor gets fouled if you use leaded fuels don't they?
Basically I am just wondering how different the systems might be.
