Yes- Jimmy is correct. It's the little spring from one of the seals. And it does seem to be a broken freewheel. If it is that, it may not be too tough to fix, depending on what broke. I have plenty of used freewheel parts if you need something. However, if the teeth on the inside of the cup where the freewheel locks in are worn, well that's major. Take it apart and see what you have.
